Travel Ergonomics
You have a nice setup at home or the office working off your laptop or using an external monitor but now you have to travel for work. How can you stay Ergonomic when you are on a plane or in the hotel room.
First, the plane. If you are tall, place your laptop on the tray table, otherwise, place your laptop on your backpack or laptop bag to raise the height of the screen and the keyboard is at your elbow height. You can place the laptop on your lap but watch your head posture (looking down to the laptop). Take breaks to look up and do some neck stretches. If you are not planning to use the keyboard and going to watch a video on your laptop, place your laptop on the tray table.
Second, in the hotel room. The desks in hotel rooms are usually too tall for most people. Sit on a pillow to raise your elbow height to the height of the desk and try keeping your chin level and not look down. Consider using the ironing board as a laptop table. The ironing board can be adjusted to different height. When you are sitting at the edge of the bed or on a chair in the hotel room, place it to the height of your elbows.
